Bemidji State's Zuzana Tomcikova has broken many goaltending records during her college career, but she added two more to her list of accomplishments Saturday night when her team defeated Minnesota State 4-0 at the Sanford Center in Bemidji.

About 12 minutes into the first period, Tomcikova broke Emily Brookshaw's school record of 3075 career saves set in 2008, and then 3 minutes 25 seconds into the second period, "Z" as she's called by her teammates, broke the other Brookshaw record for minutes played in a career.

If you were to ask Tomcikova about those records, she more than likely would answer by saying that those records don't mean much unless her team wins. The shutout by Tomcikova was her career 17th and the third time this season she's kept opponents from scoring. Her record this season is 9-8-2 overall and 6-8-1 in WCHA games.

Sophomore forward Danielle Williams also had a career night as she scored two goals. Williams scored the game winner from the left side of the net off a quick pass from her freshman line mate Rachael Kelly. She also added an assist on Marlee Wheelhouse's goal that gave the Beavers the 2-0 lead at the end of two periods. Her second goal was the final goal of the night which was a deflection of senior Montana Vichorek's line drive from just inside the blue line.

The Beavers also got scoring from junior center Sadie Lundquist who recorded her 9th goal of the year on the Beavers 27th power play goal of the season. Kelly and red-shirt junior Abby Williams each tallied two assists, while defender Erika Wheelhouse had an assist on the fourth goal of the game.

The Beavers split the 4-game season series with the Mavericks. The first series was played in Mankato; BSU lost 2-1 in overtime and won 1-0 the next night. At home, the Beavers fell 2-1 Friday and wrapped things up Saturday with a 4-0 win.

The 8th ranked Beavers are now 13-8-2 overall and 7-8-1 in the WCHA.

BSU hosts Ohio State at the Sanford Center in Bemidji on January 13 & 14 at 7:07pm. This upcoming series is crucial in determining where the Beavers finish in the WCHA standings, whether they will host games during the first round of the WCHA playoffs or if they get a bid to the NCAA post season playoffs.
