Women's Basketball - Beavers Swept at Home

The Bemidji State Women's Basketball team lost twice this weekend, losing to UM Crookston 77-73, and MSU Moorhead 95-93 in 3OT. 

On Friday, four players scored in double-figures for BSU, led by sophomore guard Morgan Lee (Hayward, Wis.).
 
The Beavers (8-14, 6-11 NSIC) had three good opportunities down the stretch to open a larger lead or take a lead, but the ball just wouldn't fall and the Golden Eagles (10-14, 7-11 NSIC) were able to escape Bemidji with a win. Up two with 1:14 left to play, sophomore Ellie Wessling (G/F, Winsted Minn.) came out of a timeout and had an open look from the elbow to make it a two possession game, but the shot rattled out and the ball went the way of UMC.

Saturday, it took three overtime sessions to decide the outcome of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference battle between Bemidji State University and Minnesota State University Moorhead Saturday, as the Dragons came away with a 95-93 victory at BSU Gymnasium. The BSU women's basketball team had five players score in double-figures in the program's first-ever triple overtime contest, guided by a career-night from sophomore Ellie Wessling (G/F, Winsted, Wis.).

Wessling tied her career-high in points with 21, shooting 9-for-17 (52.9%) from the field to record career-highs in field goals made and attempted. She also added six rebounds, three assists and three steals in a career-high 43 minutes of play. Junior Shannon Thompson (G, Rosemount, Minn.) scored seven of her 16 points from the charity stripe, going 7-for-8 (87.5%) from the line. Both senior Samantha Baldwin (G, St. Thomas, N.D.) and sophomore guard Morgan Lee (Hayward, Wis.) each posted 13 points before fouling out.

The Beavers now take a three-game losing skid into their final road weekend of the season at Southwest Minnesota State University and Minnesota State University, Mankato Feb. 17-18.
